PTO Virtual Giving Tree

Last year, during parent teacher conference, the PTO displayed a giving tree, allowing RBHS parents to donate to a PTO sponsored event of their choice.  This year, we are going to try a virtual giving tree.

The RBHS PTO sponsors some really fantastic programs here are RBHS.  If one of these events is dear to your heart, please consider donating in any amount you choose.  Those donations will be specifically earmarked for that event!  It is a great way to ensure that your money works towards something important to you.

PTO Sponsored Events:

Prom Tickets – The PTO works with the administration to purchase prom tickets for students who could otherwise not afford to attend prom.

Day of Service – This PTO sponsored event unites hundreds of students, faculty, and parents in working in our community.  Last year we cut down invasive trees, planted new trees, spread sand at the volleyball court in North Riverside, and picked up hundreds of bags of garbage as we cleaned up parks, rivers, and neighborhoods.

Summer Academic Leadership Grants – the PTO provides scholarship grants for students who are participating in a summer academic or leadership activity/camp.  Last year, we provided grants to almost a dozen students.

Veteran’s Day Breakfast – The PTO sponsors the RBHS tribute to our local veterans.

Freshman Family Welcome – This PTO sponsored event invites all incoming freshman and their families to tour the school a few weeks before classes begin.

Teacher and Staff Grants – The PTO provides funding for lots of different academic, leadership, and extracurricular events here at RBHS.

To donate, please click on the Paypal link below.  You’ll be asked to enter your donation amount and which event you would like those funds applied toward.

Looking for Volunteers for Service Project Day of Service and MLK Day of Service Steering Committees

The RBHS PTO is sponsoring two great opportunities for community service this year, and we are looking for volunteers to participate in the steering committees.

  1.  The first is the annual Day of Service held in April.  This is the signature event for our high school and the most publicly visible demonstration of students giving back to the community which supports them–hundreds of students along with parents and teachers work together to beautify our communities.  Lisa Gaynor and David Kodama are heading up this event this year, and they are looking for volunteers who are interested in helping with the steering committee.  If you are interested, please contact Lisa at ltgaynor@aol.com or David at dkodama@comcast.net.
  2. The second is a new event!  Did you know that Martin Luther King Day is designated a national day of service?   On January 15, 2018, the RBHS PTO in conjunction with RBHS students will run the inaugural MLK Day of Service event for our community.  We will be building a basic survival kit to help the homeless.  Interested in learning more or helping with the event?  Contact Christine Kawiecki at 773-208-2353 or ckawiecki@yahoo.com“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is:  What are you doing for others?”

    Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

And last but not least, we are still collecting gently used or new dresses for our annual RB Boutique event.  A big thanks to all of those who helped with and donated for our fall boutique.  We will be collecting dresses throughout the year.  Just drop off your donations in the main office at RB during school.  Now is a great time to go through your closet and donate dresses that you will probably never wear again.

PTO Directories Available for Pickup

If you are a PTO member and forgot to pickup your directory at Open House, please drop by the RB front office (or have your student drop by) any time during the day to pick yours up.  It’s just sitting there waiting for you!
