Your Help is Needed at the Street Dance!

The Street Dance is one of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce’s largest events, and as you can imagine, it takes a village – Or about 50-60 volunteers, specifically.

What better way for students and parents to thank the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce for their generous support of the RB Community then by volunteering some of your time to help out with this year’s event taking place on Saturday, May 18th from 5pm to 11pm.

The volunteer opportunities range from helping out at the welcome tent to adult beverage/ticket sales and clean up. This is a family-friendly event with music and beverages for the adults as well as plenty of entertainment – a balloon artist, face painter, juggler, etc. – for the kids. They are looking primarily for adult volunteers but responsible students are encouraged to sign up as well. Please see attached below the current signup listing, find something you can help with and then email Brian Sharenow to sign up at BSHARENOW@FMGEVENTS.COM

Thank you in advance for offering to be a part of the fun and helping to make this event a great one.

Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day

Information from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign:

My name is Abbie Gerth and I am with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My co-chair, Rebecca Ficht, and I are planning an event for high school girls called Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED) that will happen on February 20, 2016. The event involves helping the girls explore the different fields of engineering through hands-on activities and would include a design challenge as well. A concurrent program for parents will also be provided including information sessions on topics such as financial aid, college admissions and engineering majors at Illinois. We would love to get some girls from your high school to come down and join us for the event! The event lasts from 10 am to 4 pm (with registration starting around 9:15 am and optional lab tours after the program ends at 4 pm). The event is free (a deposit required, fully refunded upon attendance), and lunch is included. Online registration can be found at: http://societyofwomenengineers.illinois.edu/outreach/.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either of us at uiuciged2016@gmail.com.
