Another Successful MLK Service Project! Thank You!!

In the spirit of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, 30 students gathered yesterday to assemble 178 kits that will be distributed to two local homeless shelters.

A big thank you goes out to all who helped make yesterday a success! The students who volunteered their time, the community members that donated items and parents and local businesses that made monetary donations.

An extra special Thank You goes out to Christine Kawiecki who conceived of this wonderful service project a few years ago and has taken it from concept to successful philanthropy with increasing numbers of kits created each year since. With two graduating seniors, this will be Christine’s last year running our MLK Day of Service Project. We are hoping another parent will be willing to take over the reigns from Christine to keep this valuable philanthropy going next year and beyond.

MLK Service Project – Your Donations Needed!

MLK Service Project — We Need Donations!

The Giving Tree is Back!

Today when you stop by the PTO table at Parent Teacher conferences you will see our Giving Tree which allows RBHS parents to designate their PTO donation to a specific PTO sponsored event of their choice.  For those of you that don’t have the time to stop, we are happy to let you know that we are once again taking it virtual.

The RBHS PTO sponsors some really fantastic programs here at RBHS but we can’t do it without your help. We are asking for your donations this holiday season to ensure we can continue running all of our programs. When donating, if one of these events is dear to your heart, please let us know that you want to put your donation toward that event.  It is a great way to ensure that your money works towards something important to you.

PTO Sponsored Events:

Prom Tickets – The PTO works with the administration to purchase prom tickets for students who could otherwise not afford to attend prom.

MLK Service Project – The PTO works with the RB NHS students to collect items and build basic survival kits for the homeless.

Day of Service – This PTO sponsored event unites hundreds of students, faculty, and parents in working in our community.  Last year we cut down invasive trees, planted new trees, spread sand at the volleyball court in North Riverside, and picked up hundreds of bags of garbage as we cleaned up parks, rivers, and neighborhoods.

Teacher and Staff Grants – The PTO provides funding for lots of different academic, leadership, and extracurricular events here at RBHS. So far this year we have funded requests for Suicide Prevention Week and Black History Month in addition to teacher requests for books and memberships to enhance their students curriculum.

To donate, please click on the Paypal link below.  You’ll be asked to enter your donation amount and you can also select which event you would like those funds applied toward.
